Castiglioncello del Trinoro, a medieval village in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, transformed into a luxurious and charming hotel. To visit absolutely.
Castiglioncello del Trinoro, a wonderful medieval village overlooking the Val d’Orcia, in Tuscany, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
I was in this small village about 8 years ago, famous for the wonderful view over the Val d’Orcia.
A glance that leaves you breathless in any season. You can see the Rocca di Radicofani and Monte Amiata.
Castiglioncello del Trinoro, until a few years ago, was practically a deserted village, with only a dozen inhabitants.
Most of the houses and structures were abandoned and crumbling.
I obviously thought it was a mortal sin that a place like that was left to die like this.
It was clear that it was a real jewel to be preserved and enhanced.
Surely this is what a wealthy American lawyer from Cincinnati, Michael Cioffi, who bought almost all of the village completing a commendable work of renovation, must have thought.
Reconstructing and protecting the cultural heritage of the village that was disappearing and in 2012 inaugurated the elegant Hotel Monteverdi Tuscany, an exclusive resort for the lucky few.
Obviously Castiglioncello del Trinoro can be visited without any problems. You can easily walk through the streets of the village, rich in history and beautiful roses and colorful flowers.
Everything is perfectly taken care of.
It is possible to meet both the very few inhabitants (about ten) and the guests of the hotel and the exclusive villas (almost always wealthy Americans and foreigners) who during the summer love to go around in a bathrobe!!!
This is because, the exclusive Hotel Diffuso has a wonderful spa and various relaxation areas scattered in the village.
Foreigners, you know, love our country, our natural beauty, history, art but also the excellent food and excellent wine.
The exclusive Oreade restaurant and the Enoteca caffè Bistrot, where you can taste excellent food, Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico… obviously the best, are also part of Monteverdi Luxury!
If you are thinking of going on a trip or a holiday in Tuscany, do not miss this unique place, at 800 meters above sea level with one of the most beautiful views in the world.
You can decide to stay in one of the luxury rooms or in one of the beautiful villas scattered in the village, or … you can choose something much cheaper!
