We at The Fashion Mob have a mission: to help Italy restart. For this reason. we spent two days at the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese where we had a wonderful experience. Here is our opinion on the luxurious 5-star hotel in the heart of Rome and on the Settimo restaurant.
There is an absolutely unmissable pearl in the heart of Rome. It is the Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese, the luxury Rome hotel that is located a few steps from some of the most famous monuments and cultural parks of the city, including the Trevi Fountain, Villa Medici and the Spanish Steps. We at The Fashion Mob spent 2 magnificent days in the beautiful 5-star hotel and also tried the Settimo restaurant which is located on the top floor. Here is our experience in detail.
Where is the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese located and why you should choose it?
Located in a quiet street in the center of Rome, Via Lombardia, the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese is an ancient 19th century building that is located just a stone’s throw from Via Veneto and Villa Borghese. French architect and interior designer Jean-Philippe Nuel completed the re-design in July 2019. Nuel is inspired by the building’s original architecture and the gardens of the adjacent Villa Borghese to bring a fresh, nature-immersed look – with a palette of colors inspired by the great green lung of the Eternal City. This type of architecture and furniture struck me a lot because it seems to be right inside a wood.
In addition, the mosaic floors in the reception and in the hall as well as those in the restaurant are inspired by the ancient history of Rome and the atmosphere even more magical and suggestive.
Each of the 78 rooms has a baroque-inspired ceiling that creates the illusion of a sky above so much so that they managed to touch the sky with a finger, LOL!
Especially when I opened the hatbox that I found in the room and discovered that I had received a beautiful Panama hat from Panama Hatters as a gift! I was sooooo very happy!!!!
I also slept soundly on a fantastic Sofitel MyBed and pampered myself in a marble bathroom complete with Hermès toiletries.
Here guests can also benefit from personalized wellness and fitness therapies with the SoFITNESS wellness program in the hotel’s fitness center.
Now you will say: what about safety? You should know that in July 2020, Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese introduced top hygiene and sanitary standards to ensure the safety of guests in accordance with Accor’s #ALLSAFE program. Verified by SGS, the world’s leading company for inspection, verification, testing and certification, the cleaning and prevention certification label that these high standards have been met.
And we can confirm that nothing has been left out to chance, just think that when you enter the room we also found a kit consisting of sanitizing gel and mask.
And the very rich breakfast we had in the room was brought to us by the waiter who, however, remained outside the room just to ensure social distancing.
Settimo restaurant: one of the best restaurants in the center of Rome
In the evening we had the absolute pleasure of dining in the luxurious Settimo restaurant, located on the seventh floor and offering panoramic views of the Eternal City such as Villa Medici and Villa Borghese. From its terrace you can admire the whole center of Rome including the dome of San Pietro.
This is a stylish rooftop lounge and restaurant with a bold interior and both indoor and outdoor seating.
Settimo serves contemporary Roman cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The starred chef Giuseppe D’Alessio incorporates the culinary styles of the Roman tradition into signature dishes.
What did we eat? Roman supplì with pecorino sauce. pasta carbonara and saltimbocca alla romana with caramelized onion and chicory.
And we finished in style with tiramisu and dry biscuits with genuine flavors.
From the Settimo restaurant we also got the rich breakfast, which we ate in our room the following day. I savored the pleasure of eating scrambled eggs in the morning after so many years and, above all, after months of giving up the carbohydrate god I finally tasted croissants and pastries so much that I stole them from the others hahahahaha!
We at The Fashion Mob, the team of Italian influencers to which I belong, had a really great time and we invite you to go and dine at Settimo which is also open to external customers and to help our Italian excellences to get back on track. Long life to Italy!
