Bagno Vignoni between thermal baths and ancient mills. In Tuscany there is this small and precious village nestled in the beautiful Val d’Orcia that contains many surprises.
Bagno Vignoni is a small village in the province of Siena that every year is visited by many tourists from all over the world.
Every time someone comes to visit us, in our small house in Sarteano, we always take him to visit Bagno Vignoni, because I think it is one of the most beautiful and special places in the Val d’Orcia.
In fact, everyone is always very impressed by this place. I must say that it is very impressive, impossible not to fall in love with it.
What makes Bagno Vignoni so special and unique?
Definitely the “Piazza delle sorgenti” which contains a large pool of sixteenth-century origin containing thermal water, hot and steaming, especially in winter.
Just think that this small thermal village, thanks to the richness of its thermal waters, has been a holiday destination for many illustrious historical figures such as Lorenzo de’ Medici, Pope Pius II and Catherine of Siena.
But it was already known and frequented by the Etruscans and Romans.
The thermal water that flows into the large pool of the Piazza flows through small furrows towards the Parco dei Mulini.
Let’s discover the Parco dei Mulini and the spa together!
The Parco dei Mulini is a protected area immersed in the Mediterranean scrub where you can admire the remains of four medieval mills carved into the rock.
If you want to enjoy the thermal baths of Bagno Vignoni you can choose between three different structures; Posta Marcucci, Albergo le Terme and if you want an extra luxury experience, the Adler Thermae.
I remind you that the free spas that are located within the Park of Mills are not bathing, although many people continue to bathe there.
This means that, in case of controls, you risk a fine!
In Bagno Vignoni, in addition to enjoying the beauty of the place, the spa, and the magnificent view, I recommend stopping to eat in one of the many restaurants or shops.
There is something for every budget and need. I recommend you to taste the wonderful cheeses and cold cuts accompanied by the excellent Orcia wine!
I love Tuscany and you?
