Today I’ll tell you about the culinary contest dedicated to the PAT onion of San Giovanni Suergiu !! Gourmet cuisine, amateur cooks and fun in the company of chef Carlo Biggio.Cipolla PAT

It was held in San Giovanni Suergiu last June 30, on the occasion of the feast of the PAT onion , the culinary contest dedicated to this delicious product that received the stamp PAT (Traditional Agri-Foodstuff) from Mipaff. An exciting evening full of discoveries, I had never seen an onion so versatile and elegant, with pink and white nuances, very sweet. With the touch of a good chef turns into a true queen of gourmet cuisine.

The small mining village captained by the mayor Elvira Usai was animated with the voice of Gemma Rumore of Radio Carbonia International that added a bit of brio to the culinary challenge and the party organized by the Proloco di San Giovanni Suergiu. Four amateur cooks in the kitchen with a specific purpose, prepare a dish that features the PAT onion in just 30 minutes and win !!

To the jury the chef Carlo Biggio with the bitter task of giving a score on taste, presentation, originality and best use of the PAT onion. It was a pleasure to participate in this event and share the emotions of the cooks who have passionately told their recipes while maintaining the right concentration to bring home a good result. I discovered new recipes and secrets to bring in my kitchen.

In the final, also citizens and tourists, rushed to the village for the event, were involved in the tasting of the dishes and were able to personally ascertain the quality and the goodness of this traditional product. I have collected for you some photos of the evening and the dishes protagonists of the challenge. The winner? Ms Clara Tinti was awarded the first prize.

    I will tell you a little secret, but only you will know, the women of my family, formerly, were known by the name of spring onions, because we are all small stature ahahhah I always liked dishes with onions !!!
