I met Kryplos’ owner, Cristiana, almost 3 years ago and I have interviewed her on my previous blog.
Here is a summary of that interview and the outfit that I put together to celebrate the amazing T shirt  I bought from her online store:


Who are you?

A designer and a tailor, I am also a teacher of cutting and sewing, a psychologist and a psychotherapist.


How come your passion for fashion?
I started to sew at twenty-three years. My first experience was with an old sewing machine.
The underlying idea is to make clothes and accessories that I couldn’t find in shops without being very expensive. So I started sewing for myself.
Initially I was very afraid of making mistakes and of the fact that the realization of a made-to-measure garment provides many hours of work, but then with the experience you realize that the satisfaction that you try to see your creation worn is priceless.
All hours sewing and bowed with puffy eyes are repaid in that magic moment. The made-to-measure enhances the beauty and physique of a woman, that is not made of sizes and measurements. As a psychologist and psychotherapist I am absolutely contrary to thinness as a synonymous of  beauty.
The real beauty is not made of measures, but the charme that each of us expresses simply by being her/his self.

Where or from whom you learned how to do this kind of job?
I attended a course in fashion styling at a designer friend of mine who gave me the opportunity to draw some sketches for my creations. I started attending a school of cutting and sewing, as well as the basic course that the course progressed, lasting three years. Then I have improved and I learned the secrets of the craft in a renowned tailoring of my city, which also lasted three years. Then there were six years of training, although my opinion is that you never stop never learning.


How do you come up with new ideas? 
They can pop out at night, dreaming, or watching my beloved sea (I designed an entire collection in the beach of Villasimius in only a few days). But even simply  watching a fabric, I can figure in my mind the dress it will become. 
My latest creations are t-shirts with dogs, that were inspired by Rodolfo my beloved dachshund.
Now you can also find T-Shirts sporting other breeds of dogs such as the poodle, terrier, chihuahua and others. 

Who or what inspires you on your creations? 
My favorite is brand is Chanel with its elegant and refined style. 
The style icon Coco Chanel, of humble origin, a poor orphan who has become one of the first female manager made it possible to combine comfort and style.

Ho conosciuto Cristiana, la proprietaria del marchio Kryplos, circa 3 anni fa e la intervistai per il mio precedente blog.
Oggi vi propongo uno stralcio di quell’intervista ed il look  che ho creato per rendere onore a questa bellissima maglietta!

Chi sei?
Sono stilista, sarta e modista, da poco anche insegnante di taglio e cucito, ma anche psicologa e a breve psicoterapeuta.

Com’è nata questa tua passione per la moda?
Ho iniziato a cucire a ventitré anni da autodidatta. Ho fatto esperienza con una vecchia macchina per cucire che era stata comprata per fare piccole riparazioni casalinghe. Da quel giorno non mi sono più fermata.
L’idea di potermi cucire gli abiti che avevo in mente e che non avrei trovato nei negozi o che consideravo troppo cari come qualità prezzo, mi ha dato quella carica e voglia di imparare e diventare sempre più competente in questo lavoro. Ho iniziato a cucire per me stessa.
 Inizialmente ero molto timorosa di commettere degli sbagli e per il fatto che la realizzazione di un capo su misura prevede molte ore di lavoro, ma poi con l’esperienza ti rendi conto che la soddisfazione che si prova a vedere una tua creazione indossata non ha prezzo, tutte le ore chinata a cucire e con gli occhi gonfi sono ripagate in quel momento magico. L’abito su misura esalta la bellezza e il fisico di una donna, che non è fatta di taglie e misure prestabilite. Come psicologa e psicoterapeuta sono assolutamente contraria alla magrezza sinonimo di bellezza, per cui grazie ad un capo sartoriale tutte possiamo essere eleganti e affascinanti. La vera bellezza non è fatta di misure, ma dal fascino che ognuno di noi esprime essendo semplicemente se stessa.

Dove o da chi hai imparato a fare questo tipo di mestiere?
Ho fatto un corso di stilista di moda presso una mia amica, che mi ha dato la possibilità di disegnare i figurini per le mie creazioni. Ho iniziato frequentando una scuola di taglio e cucito, sia il corso base che il corso progredito, della durata di tre anni. In seguito mi sono perfezionata e ho imparato i segreti del mestiere in una rinomata sartoria della mia città, che anch’essa è durata tre anni. Quindi sono stati sei anni di formazione, anche se sono dell’avviso che non si smetta mai di imparare a fare bene questo lavoro che richiede grande tenacia e passione.

Come nasce l’idea ?
L’idea nasce da sola. Di notte, sognando, oppure guardando il mio adorato mare (ho disegnato un’intera collezione nella spiaggia di Villasimius in pochi giorni). Ma anche guardando una stoffa, da questa riesco a vedere nella mia mente l’abito realizzato.
Le mie ultime creazioni sono le magliette con i cani, ho iniziato a realizzare il bassotto ispirandomi al mio Rodolfo, da questo poi ho pensato di riportare sulla stoffa anche tutte le altre razze di cani da me preferite come il barboncino, il chihuahua, il terrier e tante altre.


A chi o cosa t’ispiri alle tue creazioni?
La mia Maison preferita è Chanel, uno stile elegante e raffinato. L’icona dello stile Coco Chanel, di umili origini, una povera orfanella che è diventata una delle prime donne-manager, che partendo dal nulla si è fatta da sola, riuscendo a rendere elegante la donna anche facendole indossare abiti comodi. Per me grande maestra sia di moda che di vita.
