Today I give you some tips to save money and create two outfits with just one garment. Here’s how to turn a dress into a skirt!

If, like me, you have a husband that rivals uncle Scrooge, you absolutely must learn how to turn a dress into a skirt.

In this way you can create two or more looks with only one garment. Tricks typical  of an (un) fashion blogger.

You have already seen the silk flower dress by Lilysilk in this post, but now let’s see together how to turn a dress into a skirt.

There are two possible alternatives:

  • Wear a shirt, top, shirt, over the dress
  • Roll up the dress at the waist and fasten it with a belt.

When it came to making my choice on how to turn a dress into a skirt I opted for the second version.

I rolled up the dress at the waist, I tightened it with a vintage belt and I got a beautiful skirt. I completed the look with a gipsy blouse by Maje and the inevitable jewelry of Athena Gioielli!

With the peace of the husband who has saved twice: space in the suitcase and the vile money.

The photos were taken on the seafront of Rethymno, a delightful village in the central part of Crete.

And, as you can see, they turned into streetstyle photos. Impossible to be able to shoot without being overwhelmed by the crowd. Even the Husband has risked being ranover by the stout bystanders (note the two behind me in the second picture).

The only discordant note is my hair, totally unmanageable. Unfortunately, in the suitcase, the hairdresser did not enter and I had to make do on my own, leaving them completely natural.

Sometimes I wonder why I was gifted with such a leonine mane. I do not tell you how hard I can do to tame them.

I hope I have given you some interesting ideas on how to turn a dress into a skirt!

  1. Hi Francesca
Believe me, nobody notices that the skirt in fact is a dress. The belt made all the difference and you look wonderful. I love the floral of the dress and the red of the flowers stood out more with the red shirt. You look so beautiful that no one notices the hair, believe me!
