Cosa vedere a San Francisco

Seconda tappa del nostro itinerario negli Stati Uniti occidentali. Oggi vi parlo di cosa vedere a San Francisco, del freddo che fa e dei suoi lati negativi.

Cosa vedere a San Francisco, una delle mete più ambite dagli italiani?

Sono anni ormai che tutte le persone che conosco e che sono andate in viaggio sulla West Coast tessono le lodi di questa città preferendola a Los Angeles.

Io vado controcorrente e dico che a me questa città non piace. Perciò vi darò pochi consigli utili su cosa vedere a San Francisco e vi dirò cosa secondo me non va. Ed essendo la terza volta che approdo nella freddissima città americana penso di potermelo permettere no?

Cosa vedere a San Francisco :

Prima di tutto vi consiglio l’ebbrezza della montagne russe con un giro sul Cable Car, il popolare tram di San Francisco che si inerpica per salite ripidissime seguite da altrettante discese.

La cosa buffa è che nel 2016 il tram viene girato su se stesso, a mano, da due energumeni! Altro che automazione!

Il Cable Car vi porterà in giro per la città attraverso Chinatown, Lombard street per arrivare al Fisherman’s Wharf, il porto di San Francisco di cui il Pier 39 è la maggiore attrazione con i suoi innumerevoli ristoranti di pesce e orde di leoni marini stesi al sole su delle piattaforme galleggianti. Non perdetevi la clam chowder servita nel “bun”, una specie di rosetta gigantesca e saporitissima! O anche un giretto ad Alcatraz!!

Proseguendo, non potete mancare di fare un giro in macchina su Lombard Street: una strada ripidissima e con tantissime curve: qui potrete mettervi alla prova.  Siete dei novelli Hamilton oppure dovete rifare l’esame della patente?

Infine fate un salto al Golden Gate (che però è rosso): se sopravvivete alla nebbia, al traffico e al freddo….la vista è davvero spettacolare!

Per mangiare vi suggerisco Morton’s sulla Post Ave dove potrete mangiare carne di eccellente qualità!

Per lo shopping vi consiglio Union Square e Market Street da me debitamente saccheggiate of course…..d’altra parte il freddo pungente mi ha colta impreparata!

Dopo cosa vedere a San Francisco ecco cosa evitare:

Il freddo. Clima orribile. Odio.

I “fattoni”….. questa è la città dei senzatetto “tossici”, io non so di cosa si fanno ma vi garantisco che sono completamente strafatti!

Le file interminabili ai ristoranti. Se possibile cercate di prenotare on line e non fatevi rifilare l’orribile buzzer ed un’attesa di un’ora!

For years now all the people I know who have gone traveling on the US West Coast sing the praises of San Francisco in preference to Los Angeles.

I’m going against the tide and I say that I do not like this city. Therefore I will give you a few tips on what to see in San Francisco and will tell you what I think is wrong. And being the third time landing in the freezing cold American city I think I have something to say.

What to see in San Francisco:

First of all I recommend you the thrill of a roller coaster with a ride on the Cable Car, the popular tram in San Francisco that climbs steep climbs followed by as many descents.

The funny thing is that in 2016 the tram is turned on himself, by hand, by two thugs! Kind of weird in the automation era!

The Cable Car will take you around the city through Chinatown, Lombard Street to get to Fisherman’s Wharf, the San Francisco harbor where Pier 39 is the main attraction with its many seafood restaurants and sea lions lying in the sun on the floating platforms. Do not miss the clam chowder served in the “bun”.

Continuing, you can be sure to take a ride in the car on Lombard Street: a steep road with many curves: here you can test yourself. Are you a novice Hamilton or you have to redo the driving test?
Finally, take a trip to the Golden Gate (though that is red): if you survive to the fog, the traffic and the cold …. the view is really breathtaking!

To eat I suggest Morton’s on Post Ave where you can eat meat of excellent quality!

For shopping I recommend Union Square and Market Street by me duly plundered of course ….. on the other hand the bitter cold caught me unprepared!

What to avoid in San Francisco:

The cold. horrible weather. 

The “Stoned ones” ….. this is the city of the”toxic” homeless. I have no clue about what they take but it must be not good stuff.

The endless restaurants lines. If possible try to book on line and do not set for the horrible buzzer and a wait of an hour!
