There’s something About Matera….Sembra il titolo di un film invece About Matera è il nome di una linea di T-Shirt che potete trovare on line oppure nella boutique Anna a….Matera. Ma il film c’è e riguarda la mia vita…..

About Matera è una linea di T-Shirt e foulard che riproducono alcuni temi del patrimonio pittorico delle chiese rupestri che ho avuto la fortuna di vedere dal vivo.

Eh già perché qui c’è una storia che sembra quasi un film.

Tanti anni fa per lavoro sono andata a Matera. Non sapevo nemmeno dove fosse. Pensavo che i famosi “sassi” di Matera fossero come quelli della Monument Valley.

La fortuna ha voluto che a fare da Cicerone per le bellezze di Matera ci fosse un Professore che di Matera conosceva ogni sfaccettatura, ogni angolo.

Così ho scoperto che i sassi non sono sassi ma delle abitazioni (adesso anche quotatissime) e che la storia non finisce qui….ci sono anche le chiese rupestri, ovvero grotte magnificamente affrescate con le iconografie cristiane classiche, esattamente quelle riportate sulle T Shirt About Matera.

E così dopo tre giorni a Matera sono ripartita con qualche etto di cultura in più ed un’amore sviscerato per una delle città più belle del mondo. Non per niente Matera e’ stata nominata capitale della cultura europea 2019.

About Matera is a line of T-shirts and scarves that reproduce some of the pictorial heritage themes of the rock churches that I was lucky enough to see live.

Yeah because there is a story that almost looks like a movie.

Many years ago I went to work in Matera. I did not know where he was. I thought that the famous “stones” in Matera were like those of Monument Valley.

Luck had it to do by Cicero for the beauties of Matera there was a professor who Matera knew every facet, every corner.

So I discovered that the stones are not stones but of housing (even now quotatissime) and that the story does not end here …. there are also rock churches, or magnificently frescoed caves with the classic Christian iconography, exactly those on the T shirt About Matera.
And so after three days in Matera are shared with a few pounds of culture more and gutted a love for one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Not for nothing Matera and ‘was named European Capital of Culture 2019.
