Ibiza, my favorite island, a magical, free island and Adlib fashion, which means freedom. It comes from the Latin “Ad Libitum” which means “to Pleasure”, or as we like it! Today I talk about this fashion so fresh and carefree!

Ibiza in the common imaginary means locals, buzz, nightlife, but I can tell you that Ibiza is freedom, nature, music, aperitifs and dinners with friends (and also movida of course!). It is a place that encompasses a thousand lifestyles and beaches with beautiful sunsets, shops open all day where you can find Adlib fashion garments.

And today it is precisely this topic that I would like to talk about, of the famous Adlib fashion, of how it was born and what it represents.

Born in 1970, Adlib fashion was encouraged by the Yugoslav princess Smilja Mihailovitch, wishing women a more free, natural, fresh and authentic style, wearing garments inspired by the island, and fashion Adlib actually evokes a sunny and carefree lifestyle : that of the most trendy and dynamic island of the Balearics.

This fashion is dressed, as well as mainly white (but not only) items embroidered by hand and soft lines that serves to enhance the body of women, flowers in their hair, straw hats, espadrilles and pashminas.

The protagonists of this fashion are also accessories like colored bags and embellished with tassels, patchwork and charm. I must say that the princess’s goal has been fully achieved, giving life to a free and comfortable style without renouncing femininity and elegance.

A fashion with a hippie flavor, created to make women aware of their body. It is no coincidence that his claim is: “Dress as you like, but with taste”.

One of my favorite destinations to find Adlib fashion items is the Las Dalias hippy market held on Saturday in San Carlos from 11 to 21 and the Punta Arabì market, the oldest on the island held on Wednesdays in Es Canar.

On Thursdays, on the other hand, it is the day of Cala Llonga in Santa Eulalia del Rio, famous for its fashion accessories and I suggest you take a trip to the chiringuito Es Cavallet, which offers a vast selection of garments and accessories for all ages.

And remember, buying an Adlib item does not mean just “shopping” in Ibiza, but it means taking with it an authentic part of the island: its carefree, exuberant and AUTHENTIC soul.

Fin dall’età di 6 anni ho imparato a creare outfit (facendo impazzire mia madre ogni mattina), a camminare sui tacchi e a scrivere, scrivere, scrivere.
